How these alternatives compare
TP-Link Deco S4 1-Pack
The TP-Link Deco S4 1-Pack is a compact expansion unit designed for existing Deco mesh networks. Unlike the Google Wifi AC1200, which covers up to 1,500 square feet, the Deco S4 is smaller, measuring 3.6 by 3.6 by 6.4 inches. It is ideal for users needing targeted coverage in specific rooms or smaller spaces. If you already have a Deco system, this unit integrates seamlessly to expand your network. It is not a standalone replacement for the Google Wifi if you are building a new system from scratch. Choose this if you need a budget-friendly add-on rather than a primary router for a whole home.
TP-Link Deco 7 Pro Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router
The TP-Link Deco 7 Pro Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router offers significantly higher specifications than the Google Wifi AC1200. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and includes 10 Gbps ports, catering to users with multi-gigabit internet plans. While the Google Wifi covers up to 1,500 square feet, the Deco 7 Pro fits homes up to 3,300 square feet. It is a future-proof option for those ready for the latest speeds. The unit is larger, measuring 10.6 by 1.87 by 6.02 inches and weighing 2.09 pounds. If you need robust wired connectivity and advanced wireless standards, this premium choice is superior to the older AC1200 model.
TP-Link Deco AX3000 Mesh Router 1-Pack
The TP-Link Deco AX3000 Mesh Router 1-Pack provides Wi-Fi 6 coverage, an upgrade from the Google Wifi AC1200's Wi-Fi 5 standard. It features a 2.5G port, making it suitable for users with multi-gigabit internet. The AX3000 speed rating offers faster throughput than the 1200 Mbps of the Google unit. It is designed for small to medium homes and provides solid performance. However, it does not include the latest Wi-Fi 7 standards. If you want a reliable mid-range upgrade with better wired ports and modern wireless speeds, this is a practical choice over the older Google system.
TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router
The TP-Link Deco XE75 Pro Tri-Band WiFi 6E Router is a high-speed option for users with multi-gig internet plans. It features Wi-Fi 6E and a 2.5 Gbps WAN port, offering more bandwidth than the Google Wifi AC1200. The AXE5400 speed rating indicates significantly higher potential throughput. It is designed for future-proofing your network with the latest standards. The unit measures 4.13 by 4.13 by 6.65 inches. If you need advanced tri-band performance and high-speed wired connectivity, this router provides a substantial upgrade over the AC1200, though it may be overkill for small apartments.
Google Nest WiFi Pro 1-Pack
The Google Nest WiFi Pro 1-Pack is the modern successor to the Google Wifi AC1200. It supports Wi-Fi 6E, offering faster speeds and less congestion than the older AC1200 model. It provides automatic network management through the Google Home app, similar to the original. However, it is designed for new setups and does not integrate with older Google hardware. The unit measures 5.16 by 4.65 by 3.35 inches. If you are building a new mesh system and want the latest Google technology, this is the better choice. It is not suitable if you need to expand an existing AC1200 network directly.
TP-Link Deco Quad-Band WiFi 7 1-Pack
The TP-Link Deco Quad-Band WiFi 7 1-Pack delivers high-end wired connectivity and Wi-Fi 7 speeds in a single unit. It features quad-band technology, providing more dedicated bands than the dual-band Google Wifi AC1200. This model is ideal for users who need powerful ports and high device capacity. It measures 5.04 by 5.04 by 9.29 inches and weighs 3.3 pounds. Unlike the Google Wifi, which focuses on simple whole-home coverage, this unit is built for high-speed performance. If you require the latest Wi-Fi 7 standards and robust wired connections, this premium option offers significant advantages over the AC1200.
