6 Best Alternatives to the GL.iNet Mudi 4G LTE Travel (2026)

How these alternatives compare to the Mudi

GL.iNet Beryl AX Wi-Fi 6 Travel Router 2-Pack

The GL.iNet Beryl AX Wi-Fi 6 Travel Router drops cellular connectivity entirely to focus on wired performance. It features a 2.5G WAN port and supports Wi-Fi 6, which offers faster data rates and better efficiency than the Mudi’s Wi-Fi 5. This makes it ideal for travelers with access to high-speed Ethernet or external 4G/5G hotspots. You gain robust OpenWrt firmware and strong VPN encryption capabilities. However, you lose the built-in 4G LTE modem and the 7000mAh battery. If you need standalone mobile internet, this is not a direct replacement. It suits users who prioritize open-source flexibility and wired speed over all-in-one portability.

Bewinner Portable 4G LTE Travel Router

The Bewinner H5577 Portable 4G LTE Router is a budget-friendly option for global travelers outside the Americas. Like the Mudi, it includes a SIM card slot for 4G LTE connectivity and emphasizes portability. However, it generally offers lower Wi-Fi speeds and less powerful hardware than the Mudi’s combined 733Mbps performance. The Bewinner model is smaller and lighter, making it easier to carry in a pocket. You sacrifice advanced security features like built-in WireGuard support and extensive storage options. It is best for users who need basic, reliable mobile internet without the premium price or complex configuration options found in the Mudi. It is a simple, no-frills solution for casual travel use.

Hitron AX3000 5G Cellular Router

The Hitron D60 5G AX3000 Router is a premium option that delivers certified carrier performance and high-capacity Wi-Fi. It supports 5G cellular connectivity, which is significantly faster than the Mudi’s 4G LTE. It also uses Wi-Fi 6 for better device handling. However, it is much larger and heavier, weighing 2.51 pounds, and lacks a built-in battery. You must plug it into a power outlet, making it unsuitable for on-the-go travel. This router is best for users who need high-speed, stable internet in a fixed location, such as a hotel room or campsite with power access. It gives up portability for superior speed and reliability.

Yeacomm Industrial Dual-SIM 4G VPN Router

The Yeacomm YF325 Industrial 4G LTE Router is designed for industrial IoT and serial device connectivity rather than consumer travel. It features serial ports and rugged durability, which the Mudi lacks. While it supports VPN and SIM cards, its Wi-Fi performance is not optimized for high-speed consumer use. The device is compact but focused on specialized hardware interfaces. It is not suitable for users seeking fast Wi-Fi or standard mobile hotspot functionality. You should pick this alternative only if you need to connect industrial equipment or require serial communication capabilities. For general travel internet, the Mudi provides a much better user experience and higher wireless speeds.

NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 5G Wi-Fi 6 Mobile Hotspot

The NETGEAR Nighthawk M6 5G Wi-Fi 6 Mobile Hotspot offers strong 5G performance and a local display for device management. It includes a 2.5G WAN port and supports Wi-Fi 6, outperforming the Mudi in speed and connectivity options. The built-in screen allows you to monitor connections without a smartphone. However, it is larger and heavier than the Mudi, weighing 1.28 pounds. You gain advanced features and faster cellular speeds but lose the ultra-compact form factor and extensive battery life of the Mudi. This router is best for travelers who value connection stability and device capacity over ultra-portability. It is a robust option for those who need high-performance mobile internet.

GOWENIC 4G LTE Mobile Router with Battery

The GOWENIC 4G LTE Portable Router is designed for basic outdoor LTE connectivity. It includes a SIM card slot and a built-in battery, similar to the Mudi. However, it lacks Wi-Fi 6 support and likely offers lower data speeds. The device prioritizes battery life and portability over high-speed performance. It is suitable for travelers who need reliable mobile internet in outdoor settings where speed is less critical. You sacrifice advanced security features and high-speed Wi-Fi standards. This router is best for users who need a simple, durable device for basic internet access in remote areas. It is a practical choice for those who do not require the advanced features of the Mudi.
